Who We Are
Lakou Lokal is a virtual community center dedicated to supporting Haitian families. We provide culturally responsive resources that honor our heritage while addressing the challenges of immigration and parenting in a new society.
The name 'Lakou Lokal' comes from the traditional Haitian 'lakou'—a space where families, neighbors, and friends live together, share, and support one another. We've created this online space where families can find support, connection, and tools that keep their culture alive while adapting to the realities of daily life as diaspora.
Our Programs

Parenting Across Borders
Support for immigrant parents raising children between cultures, including parenting workshops, child development education, and tools for navigating schools and systems. This program includes the Vini'm Pale'w Conversation Card Project, which fosters meaningful family dialogue.
